Arnison Crag Horseshoe Fell Race

Sponsored by Catstycam Outdoor Shop, Glenridding

Our fell race is a scenic and challenging race with 1000 ft/300 m of climbing (and descending!). The three mile/5 km course is run on grassy tracks, involves a bit of “hands on rock” near the top of Arnison Crag and has a steep rocky descent. Spectators have a good view of the runners on the skyline on the approach to Arnison Crag and on the final descent into the field.

The course was changed in 2009 and the current record is 22 minutes 30 second.  This was set by Rhys Findlay-Robinson of Dark Peak in 2014, knocking more than a minute off the previous record.  This record time was equalled by Carl Bell of Keswick AC in 2018.  The ladies' record of 25 minutes and 49 seconds was set by Hannah Horsburgh of Keswick AC in 2019.
